PRSA Memphis President's Letter for 2025

Happy New Year!

As we begin 2025, I'm excited to introduce myself as your president of PRSA Memphis.

For the past fifteen years, I've called the Mid-South home, but for the first five years, I worked remotely for a company based in Dallas. I felt isolated, and it was hard to connect with people in the communications field in the Mid-South. Years later, the pandemic resulted in many of us feeling the same way.

I understand the challenge of meeting industry peers, feeling disconnected from other practitioners when you’re a team of one, and relying on others when looking for new job opportunities. Because of these experiences, my priority this year is strengthening our PRSA Memphis community.

I've seen firsthand how our chapter can be a focal point for professional growth and relationship building. That sense of community is something I’m committed to building upon in 2025. Our newly elected board is energized and ready to bring more programming and networking opportunities to you. Here’s a snapshot of what’s ahead:

  • Member-Only Roundtable Dinners: Intimate in-person discussions to connect, share, and learn from peers. Our first dinner is for those in the healthcare and life sciences spaces.
  • PRSA Memphis Slack Channel: A digital hub for members to share job opportunities, event updates, and professional conversations.
  • Signature Events: Don’t miss Communicator of the Year on January 23 at the University Club, where we’ll celebrate three outstanding communicators, including Mayor Paul Young, Howard Robertson, and Ro Lane. Register today.
  • PRSA Memphis Scholarship: We have established a new scholarship to support the next generation of communicators. Stay tuned for more on how to donate and support this initiative.

We’re always seeking fresh ideas and committee members to help shape our events and programs. Be on the lookout for a membership survey that will help us develop our strategic plan and focus for the next two years. I encourage you to introduce yourself to our new board, reach out with questions, and see how you can get involved.

If you have feedback for the upcoming year or would just like to connect, feel free to contact me at [email protected].
