2025 Communicators of the Year Call for Nominations

PRSA Memphis is accepting nominations for the 2025 Communicators of the Year. The recipients will be presented during a PRSA Memphis luncheon in January 2025.

Communicator Of The Year

The Communicator of the Year Award is given annually to someone who has gained public awareness (and participation, if applicable) for an event or effort benefiting the city of Memphis or a local civic or philanthropic organization. It can be awarded for something done during one year or for a longer time throughout a career.

Awardees are not limited to PR or communication professionals. 

Bud Dudley, the founder of the Liberty Bowl, was the Chapter's first recipient in 1976. Since then, notable honorees have included Penny Hardaway, Cecil Humphreys, Allie Prescott, Linn Sitler, D'Army Bailey, Mayor W.W. Herenton, John Calipari, Dr. Scott Morris, Fred Jones, Beverly Robertson, Molly Meisenheimer, Otis Sanford, and Ted Townsend.

Student Communicator Of The Year

The Student Communicator of the Year award was established in 2021 to recognize the chapter's ongoing commitment to students. The award recognizes an undergraduate or graduate student’s exemplary advocacy and community involvement in the Mid-South. Students do not have to study public relations or communications to be honored. Past recipients include Jordan Dodson, Denzel Alexander, and Oakley Weddle.

Legacy Achievement Award

PRSA Memphis established the Legacy Achievement Award in 2023 to honor a communications or media professional who has made a lasting impact on Memphis or a local civic or philanthropic organization. Memphis journalist Jennifer Biggs was posthumously honored with the Chapter's inaugural award.

How To Nominate

Submit your nominations online, including a write-up (400 words maximum) explaining how the nominee meets the award criteria before midnight on Monday, Oct. 21Please submit your nominations in the appropriate category on the submission form. You do not have to nominate for each category to submit the nomination form.

The Memphis PRSA Board of Directors traditionally evaluates the nominations from the membership and selects the winner.
